Durham Light Infantry Reunion: First World War Centenary Commemoration Service

A special service to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. The service takes place at the Cathedral following the Dedication of the DLI Memorial Statue in Durham Market Place at 10am. The service will be led by the Right Reverend Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham and the Very Reverend Michael Sadgrove, Dean of Durham. Music sung by Durham Cathedral Choir accompanied by the Rifles’ Cadet Band. Readings by Kate Adie OBE and senior military personnel. The service will include the Laying of Standards, Reading of the Roll of Honour of the DLI Fallen, the Sounding of the Last Post and Reveille. A collection will be taken for Care for Casualties, the Rifles’ Charity, and the ministry and mission of Durham Cathedral.
