La Grotte de Versailles

The theorbo, a large lute with a long bass extension, was very popular in France during the second half of the 17th century. Yair Avidor plays pieces written for this magnificent instrument by Robert de Visée, a lutenist, guitarist and theorbo player at the court of Louis XIV.
