Miners' Festival Service

The Miners’ Festival Service is an annual service that takes place as part of the Miners’ Gala; a vibrant and joyful celebration of County Durham’s mining tradition. Community banners are processed to the Cathedral led by brass bands. The Procession continues into the Cathedral at 2.40pm and the banners are blessed. The brass bands provide the accompaniment for the hymns and the Cathedral is always full as the local community celebrates in its Cathedral.
