Epic WW1 Battles recreated for 1920s Cinema

Using hundreds of troops and Royal Navy ships British Instructional Films made a series of battle reconstructions that were big cinema hits in the 1920s, including the first ever public cinema visit by a British monarch. By looking at these films, it is possible to tell much about how people across the British Empire understood the war in its immediate aftermath. The lecture will be given by Mark Connelly, Professor of Modern British History at the University of Kent.
