We Count for Wildlife

There will be a beginner’s introduction to bats at Abergavenny Castle with a short talk, followed by a short walk using bat detectors to listen in to the bats’ feeding flights as they emerge at dusk. Places are limited, so please book a place on 0845 4580254. On the same evening, also in the Castle grounds there will be live moth trapping from 10pm until midnight using special light traps to attract them. The moths are not harmed and are released once they have been identified. Moth trapping can only take place in suitable weather – dry and not too windy, but if it goes ahead it will be interesting to see how many of the 2400 species of UK moth will be found here. Bring a torch to find your way.
