Textile art techniques: Inspired by Minerals, Rocks and Fossils

Activities include: Bonding and layering of sheer and semi-sheer fabrics (using the colours and textures of rocks and minerals as shown in hand specimens and on slides) as sources of inspiration Free-machine embroidery - using a basic sewing machine to add embellishments. Using the completed bonded fabrics to make book covers and keepsake boxes. Textile printing and stencilling - to make A4 size 'geologically-inspired' prints on cloth. Suitable for children age 8 to 15 years - the demonstration is also appropriate for adults who may wish to develop these ideas and designs further.
