Taking The Plunge

Showcasing the history of men's and women's swimwear, the displays will chart the development of swimwear from the health promoting properties of sea bathing in the 1890s, to examining the changing attitudes of sun bathing in the 1920s, through to the booming swimwear industry created by the affordable package holidays that began in the 1960s and 1970s. It will also explore the fabric technologies that have helped to create modern swimwear used by both amateur and competitive swimmers. Normal opening hours.
