Chedworth Roman Villa

An evening lecture with Dr Nick Humphris and Alex Auden Thursday 27th February, 7 – 8.30pm Chedworth Roman Villa is one of Britain’s largest Romano-British villas. It nestles in a wooded coomb in the heart of the Cotswolds about 8 miles north of Cirencester and is managed by the National Trust. This evening lecture will focus on the archaeological discovery of the villa in the 19th Century and what the surveys and site excavations revealed about its development from the early beginnings in the 2nd Century to the magnificent 4th Century villa. Featuring fine mosaics in situ and current archaeology, Alex Auden and Dr Nick Humphris will outline Chedworth’s plans for future development. Alex Auden is Chedworth’s Operations Manager and Dr Nick Humphris is a retired chartered engineer and scientist who is volunteer site guide at Chedworth Roman Villa.
