Depicting the dead and dying in early medieval art

The iconography of the dead in early medieval art is often dominated by Crucifixion scenes. However images of death exist from battle scenes and massacres as well as myths and other stories. This lecture looks at depictions of the dead and dying in early medieval art from the British Isles, exploring their potential meanings and the impact on the people who viewed them
