Musica Poetica London present works by Jean-Philippe Rameau, Marin Marais and Jean-Marie Leclair: three of the greatest composers of the baroque period living and working in France. In this programme, Leclair's virtuosic violin writing and Marais' sonorous gamba works are juxtaposed with the flamboyant harpsichord parts of Rameau's Pièces de Clavecin en Concerts, demonstrating the moods and contrasts of French chamber music at the time. Characterised by sensuous melodies and intricate, unusual harmonies, these pieces show how the three composers used the traditional baroque ensemble in ways that are both dramatic and strikingly original. Musica Poetica London Claudia Norz (violin) Kate Conway (viola da gamba) Oliver-John Ruthven (harpsichord)
