Celebrating the multi-faceted virtuosic repertoire for violin and harpsichord, this programme explores some of the most beautiful music written for violin and harpsichord. Italy is often describes as the 'cradle of the Renaissance' and if this is so, it was almost certainly the playground of the baroque. It shows that musicians simply could not escape the lyrical charms of the 'bel paese' or ‘beautiful country’. The programme ranges from the flamboyant virtuosity in Corelli's sonata to the ruminate brilliance inherent in Bach's music.
