Tweedledum and Tweedledee

‘Tweedledum and Tweedledee agreed to have a battle...’ So wrote poet John Byrom of the rivalry between Handel and Bononcini. Although Handel enjoyed greater popularity, Bononcini eventually fled London after being charged with plagiarism. Emily Atkinson (soprano), Cathy Bell (mezzo soprano), Nikolay Ginov (baroque cello) and Asako Ogawa (harpsichord) present these two masters’ vocal works alongside music by their contemporaries
