This talk by Michael Haas will examine the life and work of Hans Gal and place it in the wider context of the history of music and the history of the twentieth century. Michael Haas was producer of London/Deccas's recording series 'Entartete Musik' and was music curator at the Jewish Museum in Vienna. He is presently research director of the Jewish Music Institute for Suppressed Music, SOAS, University of London. Haas's most recent book 'Forbidden Music: Jewish Composers Banned by the Nazis' was published in April 2013 by Yale University Press.
