Ever fancied yourself as a starving artist? Well here’s your chance to Dare to Dabble!
Designed completely around the absolute beginner, or those who just fancy a dabble, these sessions provide an opportunity to try out new art techniques and mediums.
Inspiration, materials, guidance and fun are all provided, and as all tasks should, we’ll begin with a brew!
All sessions begin with a brew in the Education Centre and either run from 10.30am to 1pm or 2pm to 4.30pm.
Friday 13th June 10.30am – Pen and Ink Illustrations; Visit our current exhibition ‘Extinct Boids’ before coming to create your own beautiful Pen and Ink Illustrations. Drawing skills not necessary!
Friday 13th June 2pm – Paper Making; Using recycled paper, seedlings, petals, leaves and other findings from the grounds of Nature in Art, you will have the opportunity to create your very own handmade papers. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!
Wednesday 16th July 10.30am - Sculpting Birds; Come and try your hand at wire and clay sculpture. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!
Wednesday 16th July 2pm - Mosaics; To get us into the swing we will begin by exploring mosaic techniques using an empty cereal box and some glue - inspired by Elizabeth Grey. You will then have great fun making your very own mosaic art using grout and mosaic stones…remember your cereal box!
Friday 12th September 10.30am - Surface Embellishment; Using different textures, materials and stitch to embellish the surface of an image. A selection of patterns and materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring an image of your own (painting, magazine cutting, photo etc) to embellish once you have mastered the art of combining these stunning techniques!
Wednesday 15th October 10.30am - Soft Pastels; If you have ever wondered how to use pastels then this is the workshop for you. Learn some basic techniques and then have a go for yourself. You will even be introduced to pencil pastels and specialist papers.
Thursday 13th November 10.30am- Block Printing; This printing method uses a pencil to make marks on the printing surface. It is a fantastic printing method which is easy to use whilst keeping the beauty of other printing techniques. A brilliant opportunity to produce your Christmas cards (if you wish!) and give them that personal touch!
