Mug

Mug of cylindrical form with simple loop handle. The base is glazed. Opposite the handle is a sepia coloured transfer-print of a racehorse led by a jockey in 18th century sporting costume. A dog walks alongside the jockey. Below the print are the words: GARLAND "a fine stallion commonly call'd the Irish Horse" ("Garland" was a grey horse by Old Starling, owned by a Mr. Rogers according to Baily's Racing Register, he was racing 1751-53). Size: Height: 9.4 cm.
