Cross Shaft

This fragment of a cross shaft was once decorated on all four faces, but now one of these has worn away. The front face has interlacing designs and an animal's head on the lower part. The cross that this was part of was probably made in the tenth century. It is not known where this was found, but it probably comes from the Tees Valley area.
