The Adoration of the Shepherds

The Christ Child lies in a basket between the Virgin on the right and St. Joseph on the left. The ass and ox are prominent among groups of shepherds at both sides, some of whom carry eggs, a duck or a candle, while in the right foreground a boy plays a rustic wind instrument. Behind the Virgin is the base of the fluted column and a distant view of buildings and hills at sunset fills the left background. Size: 152 x 132.1 cm.
