Judith stands centre on a rocky eminence, holding the head of Holofernes in her right hand and a sword in her left. Armed soldiers rush forward on either side, while in front of Judith the legs of the slain Holofernes hang over a rock. A castle on an eminence appears behind Judith, probably intended to be the Town of Bethulia on its mountain top. This is a sketch for the ceiling painting in the Certosa di San Martino, Naples. It was his last work. Size: 103.5 x 71.1 cm.
