Large , black satin fan c. 1880. Very large, the guards being wedge-shaped, of gloss black, painted wood, the 14 sticks also being wedge-shaped, very fine and of gloss black painted wood. The sticks and guards are held by a rod of metal, which as a black painted loop decorated with a small black satin bow, attached. The leaves are of black satin, lined with silesia, and bound at the lower and upper edge with black silk ribbon. The fan is a mourning fan. The leaves has been slightly squashed. J.Brown, 00/09/2007.
