Lang Lang Foundation

Haus der Musik as ambassador of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation in Austria

Founded as a global network of music teachers and professionals in 2008, the Lang Lang International Music Foundation in New York endeavours to attract future generations of classical music-lovers, and inspire them to lead a musical life.

To kick start the collaboration between his Foundation and Haus der Musik, Lang Lang has travelled to Vienna in person to present, together with Simon K. Posch and Lukas Barwinski their first jointly developed project and details of their on-going collaboration, which takes a long-term approach and is based on sustainability.

The Foundation's extensive service portfolio ranges from scholarships for young musicians, through unique benefit concerts for non-profit organisations around the world, to programmes aimed at promoting music education in state schools. The Foundation operates with the conviction that music is a universal language which can open up new opportunities for communication and is responsive to the development of every individual and every culture.

The collaboration between the Lang Lang International Foundation and Haus der Musik includes different projects, aimed at promoting and teaching music:

The first jointly implemented musical education project is called STAIRPLAY. This project combines an innovative, unconventional approach to music teaching with musical theory content. This new interactive music installation allows users to playfully experience and learn about notes and music-making in just a few steps - at every step, in the truest sense of the word.
